01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
About this place
Pork shoulder braised gently in beer yields easily under a knife and fork, its fibres cooked down until rich and succulent. The carbonnade is one of Muro Lucano's defining dishes. At lunchtime, it is served as a balanced plate alongside bread, a fresh salad, and a savoury soup, leaving warm bread ready to mop up every drop of the braising juices.
The pasta and pizza selections cater to curious diners with both comforting staples and distinctive twists. Alongside classics like potato gnocchi in a rich gorgonzola cream sauce and Roman cacio e pepe, the menu features drinks-friendly surprises such as creamy pasta tossed with salted fermented squid and cheese. Nibbling on octopus peperoncini or an antipasto platter while enjoying a glass of regional Italian wine, such as an Abruzzo Pecorino Spumante or Montepulciano, makes for an easy and satisfying meal.
Desserts include baba au rhum, featuring syrup-soaked brioche served with house-made vanilla ice cream, as well as silky panna cotta. A cup of coffee brewed from freshly ground beans or a post-meal digestif like limoncello provides a clean finish. Situated in a residential pocket just off the old Oyama Kaido from Ikejiri-Ohashi Station, the restaurant's relaxed dining room welcomes groups and families as comfortably as solo diners stopping in for food and wine.
